Many elements are required to create a truly memorable group dining experience. Muskoka Chophouse at JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka blends great food and wines with cozy interior design and a delightful after-dinner component, to achieve the ultimate private dinner for up to 60 people.

The setting: The resort is perched atop a granite bluff offering spectacular views of Lake Rosseau. Muskoka Chophouse sets a “cottage lifestyle” tone for a relaxed but special evening, with hand-scraped wooden floors, rustic-edged tabletops and a dramatic antler chandelier. Framed photos of the Canadian logging industry in the 1800s and an antique two-man crosscut saw evoke the history of the Muskoka region.

The Setting

The menu: Executive Chef Shaun Crymble and his team offer a classic steakhouse experience including Certified Angus Beef, paired with an eclectic wine selection worthy of the 2015 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Guests can enjoy classics like the 32 oz Porterhouse steak, 14 oz Bone-In Rib Eye or a house-brined organic chicken breast alongside the signature Crab Cake, Lobster Bisque or Truffle Boursin Scalloped Potatoes. House-made Baked Alaska provides the perfect finish for dessert.

The after-dinner experience: cognac in hand, the group can step outdoors to the resort terrace, where local astronomer and naturalist, Robin Tapley, will identify constellations, planets and celestial wonders in the dark night sky. With the aid of a Meade 12” LX 200 Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, guests can see 10,000 times farther than the naked eye into a universe full of distant planets, galaxies and nebulae.
