Continuing with the “winter eats” guide (series of three), visitors and residents alike are often looking for a cozy family style meal or a delicious fine dining experience. These options are sure to satisfy your cravings all winter long

Cozy Comforts

  • Bala Falls Pub
    This cozy Bala pub welcomes locals, snowmobilers, cottagers and visitors with timeless favourites such as Buffalo style jumbo chicken wings, nachos, burgers and house-made Pizza Nova pizza.
  • Bass Lake Roadhouse
    Feed a hungry appetite with hearty portions of wraps, soups, sandwiches, burgers, wings, pasta and fries.
  • Cottages Restaurant and Lakes Bar
    At The Rosseau and open to the public, Cottages restaurant offers a unique breakfast menu every day. On weekends, guests love the breakfast buffet and hearty selections for lunch and dinner. Serving the same menu as Cottages, Lakes allows guests to enjoy the bar and Muskoka Room seven days a week, 11am to 11pm, with scenic views of Lake Rosseau. Crafted culinary dishes include smoked arctic char Niçoise salad, fried cheese curds, smoked Cajun chicken wings, prime rib of beef, steak frites, fish and chips, burgers and sandwiches.
  • Memories of Muskoka
    Curb your appetite on the way to or from Parry Sound with Memories’ hearty breakfast menu. Looking to fill up for lunch or dinner, try their well-known wings, pizza, halibut and chips or pulled pork grilled cheese.
  • Creative Plate Eatery
    Located along the shores of Lake Muskoka, enjoy a cozy atmosphere with fresh creative ingredients. Delicious dishes include butter chicken potato skins, pulled pork egg rolls, Waldorf salad, pulled brisket kimchi, lamb shank, steak, moussaka and pickerel, to name just a few.

  • Teca
    This is the place to go for fresh Italian cuisine with award winning wine and intuitive service. Lucky for many resort guests, it is at The Rosseau but public reservations are always welcome. The fennel dusted calamari fritti, marinated lamb porterhouse, Atlantic lobster ravioli, risotto and flat breads are all guaranteed to leave you saying delicioso! Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 5-10pm.
  • Muskoka Chophouse
    Looking to treat your loved one to a luxurious dining experience, try The Rosseau’s classic steakhouse for a culinary dish crafted to delight any palate. The wild caught lump crab cakes, beef tartare, lobster bisque and Certified Angus Beef are all a must when paired with award-winning wines and tantalizing sides. If you have room for dessert the smoked Muskoka s’mores in a jar will impress more than your taste buds with liquid smoke bringing the traditional campfire scent straight to your table. Open daily 6-10pm.
  • Crossroads
    Located in the quaint town of Rosseau, expect a well-crafted meal and warm service. For lunch try their house-smoked Manitoulin Island trout salad, country style beef stew or Rosseau burger. For dinner enjoy a variety of delicious dishes such as Muskoka fish chowder, baked brie in phyllo, steamed PEI Mussels, handmade gnocchi and ravioli, braised lamb or slow cooked beef short ribs. Open for lunch and dinner Wednesday –Sunday.
  • Loondocks
    Overlooking the Indian River in Port Carling, Loondocks serves up fresh local culinary creations with an extensive wine list. Start your meal with a BBQ Pork flatbread, chorizo gnocchi or Muskoka Trout Salad to share. Satisfy a variety of appetites with local Milford Bay Trout, Grilled Ontario Pork Tenderloin, Angus beef or vegetarian pastas. Re-opens Dec 16 for every Fri, Sat and Sun evening from 5-9pm. Open on New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day and Family day.
