Where to Dine in Winter Time - Guide 3: Worth the Distance

Driving 30-40 minutes to the nearest town is part of Muskoka life when you live in Muskoka Lakes. Do as the locals do: embrace the drive, plan a journey to the nearby towns of Bracebridge, Gravenhurst or Huntsville for a day of exploring the local shops and attractions. You will be glad you made the trip to experience these local dining spots.


  • The Old Station
    A part of downtown Bracebridge since 1985, Old Station offers a quality dining experience in a Muskoka atmosphere with wood burning fireplace and wooden décor, including a 155-year-old varnished maple trunk. Their delicious menu includes house made French onion soup, warm roast beet and bacon salad, pulled pork and smoked cheddar tacos, AAA steak, bloody Caesar mussels with gnocchi and oven roasted pepper squash.
  • The Griffin Gastropub
    Bracebridge’s hidden gem, frequented by the locals for its good food, craft beer and charming pub atmosphere. Grab a pint of your favourite beer, risotto balls and the mouthwatering bison burger to enjoy local musicians in an intimate setting.
  • Wabora
    Everyone in Muskoka knows this is the place to go when looking to satisfy your sushi craving or entertain guests with a teppanyaki show. Load up your sushi boat with fresh tuna, salmon and yellow tail sashimi; their crispy crunch roll is a must for any first timer. Not a fan of sushi? Try their spicy pork bulgogi, chicken teriyaki or udon noodles.
  • El Pueblito
    Get your taco fix at El Pueblito. Serving fresh and authentic Mexican cuisine, choose from a variety of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Occasional Friday and Saturday night salsa classes will help you dance off the extra guacamole.

    Burger lovers rejoice with 9 different gourmet burger combinations on top of a special beef blend of sirloin, round and prime rib Canadian beef burgers ground and pressed daily.     The restaurant child of Carey’s Pub and North West dining, the Oar and Paddle offers a rejuvenated cozy combination with eclectic, casual décor. A great place for lunch or dinner serving tasty dishes such as pull-apart focaccia cheese bread, gluten free vegan quinoa and chickpea cabbage rolls, wild boar venison blueberry burger , southern fried chicken with corn fritters, fried clam strips and braised beef short ribs.
  • Rombo's
    This family-owned diner serves authentic Italian and Greek food with a friendly smile in a laidback atmosphere. Known for their fresh homemade pizza, chicken parmigiana and chicken souvlaki, your taste buds will be glad you stopped for a quick bite.
  • Rickshaw
    If you love Chinese food this place serves the biggest chicken balls you will ever eat! Great for a grab and go option on your way to the resort or cottage. Who doesn’t love cozying up by the fire with large quantities of chicken fried rice, egg rolls and sweet and sour pork?


  • That Little Place by the Lights
    Featured on The Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here, this family owned restaurant serves authentic Italian food with a smile. Fresh pastas include creamy pesto, linguini alfredo, frutti di mare, handmade gnocchi and lasagna.
  • On The Docks
    Located in the heart of Huntsville overlooking the town dock it’s a great place to enjoy pub favourites such as wings, nachos, beef dip, pulled pork and chicken club wraps.
  • 3 Guys And A Stove
    If you are looking for casual fine dining, then this is the place. Serving up simply delicious Arborio rice balls, crab cakes, steamed mussels, salads, pasta, slow roasted lamb, beef tenderloin and Moroccan meatballs.
