Top 10 Boatable Restaurants in Muskoka

By Lauren MacDermid , August, 2017

One of the best things about relaxing in Muskoka is the opportunity to travel to your favourite restaurant by boat instead of taking the car. When visiting one of the three big lakes (Lake Rosseau, Lake Joseph or Lake Muskoka) there are many options to make this happen. Trailer to one of the many boat launches available to the public, rent a boat from a marina, or if you are lucky enough to have one waiting in the boathouse, untie it and cruise to your next meal. Not sure where to dine? Check out the top 10 boatable restaurants on the Muskoka Lakes below:

1. JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka, Lake Rosseau
Five restaurants on site plus a grab ‘n’ go café ensure that you will find the perfect fit for your dining preference. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere at The Deck lakeside bistro with wood-fired pizza, craft cocktails and live music. Head upstairs to soak in scenic Lake Rosseau views at Cottages for breakfast. Pull up a seat in the Muskoka Room or outdoor terrace to enjoy one of Lakes crowd favourites such as smoked salmon carpaccio, Banh Mi pulled pork, flat iron steak frites and korma curry. Elevate your evening with fresh lobster, certified Angus Beef and crab cakes at Muskoka Chophouse, or fresh Atlantic lobster ravioli, duck confit or braised octopus at Teca. An award-winning wine selection is always guaranteed.

2. Water’s Edge Restaurant at Lake Joseph Club, Lake Joseph
Spend the day sight-seeing the magnificent cottages and boathouses that line the shores of Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph. Make a lunch stop at Water’s Edge to enjoy a smoked trout salad, beef tartare, charcuterie or seafood platter before heading back out on the lake.

3. Grand Electric, Port Carling Locks
If you are in the mood for some guacamole, head to the Port Carling Locks for Grand Electric tacos served up lakeside. The central locks location means you can boat in from all three Lakes, so no boater is left without their favourite ceviche, Baja fish, shrimp or cauliflower taco.

4. Turtle Jack’s, Port Carling Locks
When you are looking for a patio that allows views of countless boats cruising through the locks, then Turtle Jack’s is the place. Share a pitcher of sangria, split the 3 cheese dip or calamari and order one of their popular main courses, such as chicken wings, pineapple mango salmon or bison meatloaf.

5. Loondocks, Port Carling Locks
Looking to wow your boating guests? Another restaurant located in the central Port Carling Locks, Loondocks offers smoked venison carpaccio, Oka chicken, Milford Bay Trout, butternut squash risotto or mushroom arrabiata.

At the restaurant you will find a beautiful patio with views of Lake Rosseau. Fresh menu items include chill cucumber soup and maritime blue crab, Georgian Bay pickerel, and house made fresh pappardelle. The options are so delicious Crossroads had to be included on this list!

7. Creative Plate Eatery, Lake Muskoka
If you are looking for a cozy atmosphere with fresh creative ingredients on Lake Muskoka, look no further than Creative Plate Eatery. Delicious dishes include Italian Burrata, Caesar mussels, smoked trout and falafel salad, lamb shank and paella. Plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options for those with special diets.
